Hi guys, I'm an older "gent" who dearly regrets selling his Terry Beckett f2 tuned 4LO and his Gauloises Sarron replica RD 500 LC, also F2 tuned by the great man. I moved onto four strokes after that apart from racing a CR 500 Moto for a while until kids stopped play. LOL Now in my dotage I'd love to do up a project LC, preferably a 4L0/1, but I'd give a YPVS a go. Does anyone on the forum know of any basket case type machines that would fit the bill at a reasonable enough price? There seems plenty of fully built bikes on eBay, but I want one I can build from scratch and enjoy the satisfaction of doing so. If anyone out there has XRF 400X please please contact me, that bike was my life, I shouldn't have let it go, but was young, skint, and star struck by the 500LC. I loved that bike too (B500 KLV) it was a beast and I've got the scars to prove it, but my original Elsie is still closest to my heart. LOL I'm loving reading about you and your wonderful bikes and would love to be posting about my new Elsie in the future. Many thanks and congrats on a great forum, wish I'd found you years ago!

Hi Welcome to the forum. Your story echoes many on here for sure Think you'll be shocked at the values for Lc/ypvs bikes, even rough basket cases. Still, it's only money !! Good luck with your search. Get to 25 posts on here and you can access the sale and wanted threads. Dusty

Hi and welcome.
As Dusty says get your posts up and get to to the for sale and wanted sections.
Unfortunately the way the market has went a dog is now worth a grand.
There was a runner in the for sale section around £1500 I think. Have a look through the rebuild and finished section and get commenting.

It's really surprising just how much these are going for these days.
It doesn't seem that long ago that you couldn't give a 250 lc away following the 125 law, or maybe i'm just getting old............

Thanks for the replies lads, I'm not really looking for a complete bike or one hat needs minimal finishing as I'm after a project that I can strip down and totally refurbish or even one already in boxes. I'm not after making a financial killing but wish to build a bike to keep and be able to be proud to say "I built that". Fozzy, your stuff is interesting but I'm not sure I can do a YPVS model as I was a dyed in the wool 4L0 fanatic. I know my 500 was a YPVS but I didn't see it as one as The Beckett tune on it made it anything but torquey like a valve and daft as it sounds I don't think the Sarron paint job had YPVS logos so I sort of dismissed they were there. Hope this doesn't offend YPVS fans... Now I've found the site I'll hang around and post as advised by Dusty, hopefully the right bike for me will pop up sometime, I'm in no rush, it's been nearly 30 years so a bit longer won't hurt.
Cheers Dave

And yes, you should not of sold your Beckket tuned 4L0, kick your self up the arse! Thanks, I hope so. You're not kidding about the bike, I sold the 500 too! The sound of those 4 swarbricks was some thing else. How do I kick myself up the arse with both legs? To make things worse my old man had a shed clear out and scrapped unmarked original pipes for both bikes, and a set of 375cc Stephens barrels for the 4L0, without telling me.All were wrapped in oil soaked hessian sacking and would've been rust free. DOH!
