Hi all, Quick piece of advice please. I had my crankshaft rebuilt, and I noticed that the rhs bearing (the one with the small nipple) had spun round in the seat, making a small gouge in the seat. The new bearing equally small nipple will also rotate in the gouge made by the old one. Do you think I should add a small layer of loctite to prevent this or just let it spin 90 degrees of so until it gets jammed?
Thanks,
DaveG

If it was mine I would use some stud & bearing lock,, once you clamp the cases together it shouldnt go anywhere , I wouldnt let it spin & hope !

+1 Used this to cure the same problem on my 350N .. bolted the cases together one afternoon, posted pics in my rebuild thread that evening and another member pointed out that we had put the right-hand crank oil seal in the wrong way round. Opened the cases the following day to switch the seal round and had a right b*st*rd of a job getting the crank out of the bottom case - stuck like sh*t to a blanket ..

As long as the bearing doesn't seize it shouldn't spin,I always use bearing lock anyway

bearing fit on the outside will be ok.if you were really worried change the bearing on that end to one with a pin and make a recess in the case for the pin.

I bought some loctite 641, which is supposed to be good for this application and not as hard i.e. you can dismantle again, as other stuff.
I was advised by the guy who rebuilt my crankshaft to use ONLY on one side of the crankcase otherwise impossible to split them again!
