Hello Chaps, I have two question regarding the installation of an ypvs block into an 4LO frame.
The clutch cable i have is too long. Is an ypvs clutch cable shorter than a 4LO clutch cable and are there are a few different models? If so which one is best suited to this conversion?
On the top of the Ypvs cylinder head you have two cooling water outlets, the main one is big and is connected just after the thermostaat housing. The other one is small and is at the back of the head and i will call this one the de-airation pipe. How have people connected the de-airation pipe into the system. Straight into the top of the radiator or with a tee piece into the main pipe after the thermostaat? how did Yamaha connect it?
Photo's and different solutions would be appreciated.
Thanx in advance

Hi,
YPVS more my thing but would think the 31k Lc2 clutch cable would be best as both bikes had normal handlebars. The F1/2 and N1/2 had clip on bars so the cables are shorter than the lc2
As for the head bypass you can do away with it. Drill and tap it for a bolt so you can bleed any air. Then all you have to do is drill a 3mm hole in the body of the thermostat to allow the system to bypass the stat.
Some have connected the bypass pipe direct to the rad by fitting a bolt through spigot beside the filler to allow it to be fitted

Despite missgivings Most Clutch cables will fit quite well Even much longer ones. Experiment a bit with the routings ? Plug or blank off the wee cyl head water bypass fitting and drill a 3mm hole into the round disc of the thermostat. This works.. period. Fitting a T into the upper rad hose is a bit of a pain and few have managed to make it look as a discrete inoffensive adaptation.

yes thread the brass spigot in the head and fit a bolt and sealing washer.as the other folks have said drill a hole in the thermostat disc.

Hi there, Thanks for the suggestions and answers, the head has a piece of tube pushed onto it for now which i will put into the top of the radiator to let it circulate when i start the motor. After everything is ok i will modify the rad to accept the bypass. I think this is the best because you will not get any build up of gasses.
I just need to get the correct cable, i have added a spacer to the cable i have to check the operation of the clutch. I read in the other clutch thread that early R1 cables fit, this could be a better solution. There is a bike breaker very close to me so i will take a look and see what they have.
Thank you very much for your help guys.

Quick update, Today went to the bike breakers, the R1 cable from 98 was just as long as the other cable i had, but after a bit of a rummage he found an FZR 600 cable which seems to be a good fit. Time will tell after i have started the engine up.
