Currently considering exhaust gas analyzers. Lambda sensor thingys. Essentially to help fine tuning on the race bike. I suspect it may be cheaper than the re-bore / new piston & ring kit route in the long run. Does anyone have any knowledge? This is as far as I've got. There is an Australian made one Easitune www.easitune.com/The Easitune kit is designed for karts. I have seen it fitted to an LC. and Accumix EGT kit. reading their information on the below page, it doesn't suggest it is anything other than a pair of temperature gauges. www.accu-products.com/accu-products-specialties/dual-probe-egt-kit/prod_3013.htmlanyone know of other kits?

IMO EGT is the way to go for consistent readings on two strokes, once you have confirmed the temps on a loaded dyno you can up jet, down jet change the ignition and see which is the right direction.

Thanks Slinger.
I suspected that temp was a fairly good indication of combustion. How do I get a base line exhaust temp? No access to a dyno. By the time I get back to the pits for the thermometer, the temps are gone. Reading plugs is a black art, and doing a plug chop on a track day or practice is a practical issue. I need to do more riding and data collection too.
A mechanic mate reminded me that the analysers they use in workshops cost several grand. The analyser that fits to the bike is a few hundred. On the flip side of that, just because it's 'cheap' doesn't mean it's nasty or not reliable.
I fully realise that both options are a tuning aid, not a tuning kit.
Trying to get the bike to a dyno is somewhat problematic for me. I have a couple of hundred kay drive to any race track and further to any specialist bike dyno. And I'm not trying to win races. I just want to make sure I don't burn pistons etc whilst having as much fun as I can. Do as well as I can with the bike that I've got.
I'll speak with the easitune man and see what he reckons.
Anybody else with something to add?

If you had access to a dyno you could do a load and hold run and read the hydro-carbons then cross reference to your EGT readings, my EGT would read 600*c and the engine would be a little on the lean side. So I would set mine up to 570/580*c on the track for that given day which worked well for me.
