My rev counter running bout 1000-1500rpm too slow. After checking with other LC owners where their revs running and watching manu UTube videos (at 60mph in 6th gear its only showing 4000rpm). So I have probably been running maybe bit too much revs when running it in..although these bikes can handle it. Was advised to just squirt sum WD40 up the back of the clock but I noticed during the rebuild where the cable screws into the rev counter, the receptacle was very loose compared to the speedo..so suspect something not right in there. Would really like to get it sorted so anyone have any advice on how to fix it? These clocks are normally sealed units and are super rare so don`t want to cause any damage by trying to open things I shudnt. Anybody done something like this..or experienced a similar problem?..would appreciate some advice before I open things up.

I've got same sort of problem but mines running higher by about 1000rpm so looking forward to seeing what sort of answers you get. I wondered if they can be reset maybe?

Hi, Its my speedo that reads funny. when its realy doing 30mph, the speedo says 40mph and it progresses up like that, I can have the speedo showing 100mph and im realy only doing about 60-70mph ish ?......which is quite good, as it makes you think you are in the same leauge as John McGuiness or Michael dunlop or one of them ! I asked about too, and others have this prob as well, I have not found an answer to a repair, appart from change it for a good one. If you find out any more info I would be interested to hear your findings. steven.

What sprocket gearing you running , factory standard 16 front 39 rear?
I have standard gearing on my bike running it in , yes I'd say at 60 mph in top gear I am at 5000 ish rpm.
Oh well its getting run in ok then by now.

Bike fell over once during the rebuild and rev counter took a smack on the side (could've shot myself that day). Maybe that also causing a problem in there..cant say if things were loose before that.

The cable shouldn't be loose at the back! I think that needs further investigation!

Was getting really bad..showing 3000rpm at 60mph so opened it up.The bracket the cable screws into was completely loose and spinning around..amazing it worked at all..something inside must be broken. So made up a plate on the outside to keep things in place. Working ok now.
