Hi, I have just renewed my road tax for my LC online, and received the following email. Looks like thats the last tax disc I will ever buy. steven. If your vehicle tax is due from 1 September 2014 You will receive a tax disc. You will only need to display your disc for a few weeks. From 1st October 2014 the law is changing and you will not need to display your tax disc on your vehicle. Should your tax disc not arrive after 5 working days, then please phone us on 0300 123 4321 and choose option 4 then option 1 and be prepared to quote the Reference Number. If your vehicle tax is due from 1 October 2014 The law is changing, you do not need to display a tax disc, therefore we will not issue one to you. For more information go to www.gov.uk/dvla/vehicletaxchanges.

Never dispalyed a tax disc for years, so no different for me Spoke to a little old lady in the post office a few weeks ago, and she thought it would be her demise, as that was a lot of her work issueing tax discs. (only a small village licencing post office)

Just renewed mine a few days ago as it expires at the end of August and asked the chap behind the counter if on the 1st of October I still have to display it on bike and he wasn't sure and said it would probably be best to leave it on bike till it expires.

I have already seen adverts in the papers from places wanting to buy your old tax discs, my only guess is that it must be film companies??? I will just keep it on it for the year as I have paid for it. Steven.

Just think...shortly you will be able to have a Guinness bottle label in your tax disc holder, and not risk being prosecuted for fraud.
