Can anyone please confirm or not there are 2 different sized gaskets for the 250 & 350 reed cages? I ask because while cleaning carbs on my 250 I noticed the the gasket was very much oversized for the 250 cages. If there is a 250 gasket can anyone supply the part number please?I have searched the parts manuals with no luck....

250 and 350 LC reed blocks and gaskets are the same. YPVS gaskets have a bigger central cutout but the mounting holes and outer edge are the same as the 250/350. Sounds like you have YPVS gaskets but they should still fit and seal ok on the 250.

sounds like you might have pattern gaskets on which tend to be on the large side......

YPVS reed cages are defo diff between the cc's, was looking at them this week for James who is upgrading his 250... but never put em back to back so dont know about the bolt spacing.

Bolt spacing is same, but the actual reed cages are different sizes.I noticed the gasket which Im assuming is a 350 gasket & oem,was only just sealing the edges.Trying to get pics up to explain but photosh!tbucket is being a pita!

If you look closely you can see where the reed cage has clamped on the gasket,it be around 1mm of sealing area!Im para about an air leak now.Got new oem gaskets & the same spacing issue, just going to carefully seal up with 3 bondy.

Also had another thought. Someone may have put standard LC reeds/reedblocks in a YPVS engine by mistake....

As above, anything obviously different with the reed cages, never seen such a large gap around the edge before, for either 250 or 350, has someone fitted some c##p reed spacers on it??

Here are oem ypvs reed cages. Two 250 & single is 350. Plenty of room for the 350 but not the two fiddy. Looks like im cutting my own then. I am abit surprised no one else has come across this issue before.

Those reed cages are non-YPVS ones. Same as 4L0 and 4L1. I am just about to make some 4L0 reed gaskets, so if you want some let me know.
If standard 350 YPVS reed and inlet rubbers fit, I would change over to them.

4lo4 mate yes I would change them but alas they dont fit lol.Years ago I went to the expense of grafting 350 reed housing onto 250 barrels, why I dont know.....but I do know it worked very well with good pipes! Anyways,if the gaskets your getting made up are smaller then yes Id be interested. In the mean time you have me wondering about these reed blocks,Ill go check against another set I have somewhere....

Knew I was f-ing right lol. Here is a 350 gasket sitting ontop of the 250 gasket.... I know this motor was untouched untill I pulled it down awhile ago but left the reeds in the barrels which are standard bore two fiddies.... So for all you 250 folk out there, check your reed gaskets as there is a 250 sized reed gasket & a 350 sized one! Just need to find part number now...
