Hi, Looks like the Red Arrows are escorting it in too according to "Red Ten" I will listen to it on VHF as it goes over, and I have my LC sitting ready to go, incase one of the Lancasters spannies or something comes loose and it has to land at Prestwick. From what I read, the Canadian Lancaster is called "VERA" due to its reg....c-gVRA. I realy hope I can take Elsie down to see Vera. steven.

When I 1st moved to Lincoln, I used to rush outside each time I heard the red arrows.
Nowadays I hardly look up, even if I'm outside, we get them over so often.
It's a pity "Just Jane" isn't allowed to fly, we could have had 3 in the air today.

Oh, that would be nice to see them on a regular basis. The "regular" where I am, is the Royal Navy Search and Rescue Seaking from HMS Gannet at Prestwick, callsign "Rescue 177" It is the busiest SAR helo in the UK, and its not uncommon to see it going out on several SAR missions every day. Its a common sight about Ayrshire, but not for too much longer as the Seakings are being retired in the next couple of years or so........ .....I have just checked flight radar 24 and Vera is now overhead the Isle of Lewis. steven.

Scottish Mil, just told him that there is an approaching thunderstorm at Coningsby, and if he cant get into Coningsby, then his diversion airport is Doncaster. The Red Arrows MAY still be coming out to meet him.

Delayed now till 1430 due to weather, they are all in the hanger out of the rain at Coningsby ! Looks like the other Lancaster from the BBMF will no longer be flying today, but the Red Arrows are still going out to meet her.
Good old UK weather !

Reports of thunder and lightning now at Coningsby ! What a shame after all the hype and preperations, and all the veterens there etc. Oh well, it cant rain for its entire visit.

I can vouch for the weather - took the diesel to the cathedral, hung around until the cancellation was announced - then got a serious soaking on the way back, inches of rain fell in no time at all, roads flooded etc.
Soaked to the skin - oh well.

It is / will be airworthy any time now. However that's very different from being allowed to fly it. The air museum at East Kirkby give my local village bike club free access to the site one day a year & we hold a bike rally & ride out there, to raise money for the air ambulance. We get 500 + riders and the air museum get lots of repeat visitors & the money from the cafe etc. They usually fire the Lanc up & taxi it twice during the day, & do a full power stationary run on all 4 merlins. I believe the plan is to get both flying lancs over the runway whilst Just Jane is doing an aborted take off, with the tail wheel in the air (the fastest it's allowed to go), later this month, I will pop down & try & get photo's if I possibly can. East Kirkby website here www.lincsaviation.co.uk/ well worth a visit, you can even buy a taxi ride in the Lanc if you want.

Hi, As it was a good day yesterday, I went out on my LC and spent the day whizzing about in the sunshine on it. When I came home in the evening, I put my PC on to read that the Red Arrows were just leaving Belfast and coming to do a display at Edinburgh, which I knew nothing about. I switched my radios on to hear the Red Arrows in transit, and heard them chatting away on their own air to air UHF frequency of 243.450 Mhz. If you ever go to an air show, it is excellent hearing them during their display on this frequency, as the team leader Red 1 shouts out directions and instructions etc. When they do their various manoveours, he is heard to scream out "BREAK" and they all whizz about in different directions, its an added bonus to hear them as well as see them. The photos get uploaded to the internet almost in real time as people take them. Red 10 was in the back seat of one last night and he was taking photos in transit. Here are a few more photos of VERA and a couple of the Red Arrows from last night. I liked the one of the Red Arrows in transit from Belfast to Edinburgh, with Ailsa Craig in the background, shortly before they went over my house. I put in an old black and white one of a B-17 in a bit of a mess, but still flying just for the factor. steven.

Hi, I read that last week no 4 engine on VERA packed in, and another had to be sourced, I think they got one from the BBMF. They have been fitting the new engine and it has been test run. Today they have taken it up for a test flight, and all is well. VERA is currently en route from Humberside to RAF Coningsby and is showing on Flight Radar 24 site. Looks like she will make it to Prestwick for the Air show this weekend after all. steven. www.warplane.com/lancaster-2014-uk-tour.aspxwww.flightradar24.com/CGVRA/43c60ff

Hi, Im also hoping to see them at the weekend. I tried the various places advertised localy for tickets today, and even went down to the Highgrove house hotel at Troon and parked my LC amoungst the Jaguars and BMW,s etc, which Im sure suitably lowered the tone, but everywhere I went was sold out. I eventaly managed to get them online from Ticketweb, so that pleased me. I asked my younge lady friends 11 year old daughter if she wanted to go too, she said yes please, and I asked her if she had been told anything about the Battle of Britain at the school? She said yes, she had been told about the Battle of Britain, so I asked her what she knew about it. She told me that the Battle of Britain was when the Scottish were fighting the English ! steven.
