Hi everyone, just had a lorry reverse over my what was a mint ZX7R. I had to jump off rather than get squashed. Damage is nearly all cosmetic - front fairings etc. Luckily I've only got a few bruises. No win situation as the bike will now be devalued even if they give me enough money for the new fairings. £560 just for a nose cone - ouch. A quick question to everyone , can anyone recommend a good quality plastic glue as I might be able to repair some of it. Cheers Nick.

Ahh bugger Nick, sorry to hear that Main thing is you are ok but real shame about the bike and all the inconvenience that goes with sorting it all out. Have you got agreed value on it?

Make them pay for a full fix... You are entitled to get it back mint... True but they'll probably just write it off.... due to above damage.

Could have been a lot worse mate...at least your OK.
If it was me, id make a claim, was in a similar siuation myself a few years ago and rather than write the bike off, the ins Co agreed a one off payment, I recieved a cheque and it was up to me how I spent the money on the bike, I put it back to better than it was before, using a mix of new and S/H parts.

Let them write it off - probably as a Cat D - then buy it back from the insurance company and repair it yourself. You'll still have your bike plus a fair lump of cash to tuck away towards your next bike too.

Glad your ok. I loved my bikes and still love the forum, but I am happy to be away from the danger side of bikes now, and have not really missed having the bikes.

Norbo sells what you need PLASTECH all purpose plastic repair system. Voted best buy by AUTO EXPRESS. You can repair cracks and even make tabs with this stuff. The kit includes 1 Moulding bar, 1 20ml powder repair 1 30ml liquid activator, 3 pipetts and all instuctions needed for use £10 a kit. I've used this extensively and it's been perfect rebuilding many damaged and aging bike plastics. You can fix cracks and build up where plastic is missing too. Hope this helps CJ

I do not advocate suing people for any tiny misfortunes. However, being in the Haulage industry for 36 years it sounds a very poor excuse for a professional driver of a large goods vehicle to exclaim that 'I was adjusting my mirrors when I REVERSED OVER YOUR BIKE'. It sounds an obvious case of driver neglect and undue care. It was only your quick thinking and deciding to vacate your bike that stopped the situation esculating, but imagine if it was a woman with a pram. Although your bruising may have been slight, they are still non the less an injury and possibly worth pursuing. Like I said, I am not the type of person who advocates using the law to profit. But in your case, it is an option to explore when the damage costs far out weigh the value of your motorcycle. Insurance companies are all to quick to pay out the minimum for the loss of your bike and then brush it under the carpet, but they never seem to compensate you for any out of pocket expenses, like money spent on just servicing it, is this your only form and transport and you now have to use public transport etc? But when all said and done, I'm glad you came out of it okay.

Thanks cj and Pidz. The fairing repair kit looks just the job for some of it. I will certainly be out to get what I deserve as as the lorry driver was totally in the wrong and could have killed someone. He didn't even seem too bothered at the time. Atleaast I an ok like you said Pidz.
