Hi Gang I thought I'd share this with you all as I've seen loads of posts about BLEEDING BRAKES To get an mot on my hybrid. It took 3 days to bleed the back brake! Took it for its first ride and it came loose and gobbed all the fluid out, long story short, the brake line was too well clamped and not enough room for movement! Sorted that and it wouldn't bleed again ,,ended up with paint lifting, trays full of fluid, rebuilt the caliper, replaced the master cylinder twice and still no joy So I bought this off eBay after looking on YouTube BBCode (message boards & forums) Two minutes later and with no mess at all the brake is perfect best £16.49 I've ever spent And to think how much I've spent on parts to make it look pretty but serve no other purpose!!!!

I've had a nightmare too with my brakes and I've got the same vacuum kit in my watch list on ebay. I get paid on Friday so it's going to be ordered today. Your post convinced me this is the way. I have spent days trying to get any brake pressure with very little joy and I've wrecked some paintwork too...
So thanks and fingers crossed.

You won't regret it Dave, small tip,put a little Ptfe tape around the bleed nipple first and don't open it too much. Cheers Matt

Be careful with those kits, as if you pull the hose off the pump, it will rip the pump apart. Once it has come apart it won't stay together as the plastic body is too weak. Just leave the hose on. Don't ask how I know this! :-)
I ended up getting another metal bodied one. (Sealey VS401)

all I ever do is reverse bleed using an irrigation sringe on the bleed nipple and slowly pump fluid backwards through the system. never failed me yet

I am with Raven and Artie , this worked perfect on my 4lO . I did pose for the picture , before you say the tubes full of air locks . I bled up both sides with a single fill.

my trick is to bleed the brakes above the master, i just rotate the caliper, prepare for bubbles, works everytime!

Just done mine as replaced the hoses. What a difference to braking now, no pressure needed on lever.

Sorry to be a bit dense but have I got this right for the method with the syringe. You connect up an empty syringe and draw fluid through the system and caliper by pulling/drawing on the syringe and topping up the reservoir as you go? Thanks.

no mate they are saying reverse bleed as in pump the fluid from calliper to master
heres the quote
all I ever do is reverse bleed using an irrigation syringe on the bleed nipple and slowly pump fluid backwards through the system. never failed me yet

Right! So the syringe is filled with fluid that is pumped backwards through the system to push any air back up to vent into the reservoir? I hope I have it right now. Thanks again.

Actually thats how it worked for me,like a vacuum pump just drawing the fluid through.

I use the syringe to pull fluid through, also like the pt fe tape on the billed nipples, best trick though is crack the master cylinder banjo bolt with pressure on the lever, a tiny air bubble there is a bitch to remove any other way, make sure you have a rag in the right place to catch the fluid though

I've got one of those vac pump kits, it's brilliant at shifting awkward trapped air.
