How do you go about changing the engine number on your v5 if you put a ypvs engine in a lc frame?

these days you normally need an engineers report to say its been done correctly etc and complies with original manufacturers specifications etc
so long as you have a friendly garage/mechanic who has a business and is happy to write a letter (n his business letter head) to that effect then you should be fine
I've had to do a few in the past few years after people have blown bikes up or built an hybrid etc

I changed mine a couple of weeks ago by just sending the reg document off with the new number entered in Section 7. The bike isn't a hybrid btw but the number went from a 31K to 1UA so should have been picked up if it was more than a simple number swap?

it does seem a litte hit and miss this engine number change business, I've had a few come back to me for an engineers report and others telling me they haven't needed it, now I just do an engineers report as a matter of course for people when I swap engines etc, does seem its a lottery, always worth trying it first, the worst that will happen is they will send it back saying you need a report

I had to take my hybrid to VOSA.
They wanted to Q plate it. It had been mono shocked. So I started again.
If the capacity stays the same, they take no notice.
Problems arise when altering the cc on the V5. They then become interested.

Changed mine, both colour and engine number at the same time by filling in the new details on the V5 and sending it back.
job done but its standard stuff which might alter how its dealt with....

Just fill in the changes on the v5 and send it off Never had any bother with it
The insurance is usually more hassle

I fear as much
Then there's trying to get someone to insure it for its actual worth in parts
