well I've just updated my build thread, but I am so pleased with my experimental engine that I thought I'd double post the results as its been an interesting day and one that has made me a very happy bunny. To recap, the engine is a one off 400LC made from a RD400F bottom end and some 350LC barrels and boat load of engineering, the aim was to create a high torque, low revving engine in order to allow me to turbo charge it, well the results are in and the dyno graph show's how my efforts have paid off Bike on the dyno, waiting for its first ever proper run, at this point anything can/could happen ! and after running it up and not needing any adjustments which was a mega surprise, the dyno graph looks like this....... the long and short of it is this......... 48BHP (slightly less than I hoped for) 40ftlbs of torque (slightly more than I hoped for) However the surprise of the day and the most impressive thing is the way the engine made the power, max BHP at 6400rpm and max torque at 6100rpm, but even more impressive is the way it makes that power, it makes a whopping 30bhp in 1.5 secs, but even more impressive than that is that it only takes a total of 4.2 secs to reach max power and torque, which is more than twice as fast as a tuned LC - graph below is time graph showing the WTF400 (my 400LC) against a tuned 350LC next is to sort out the turbo, although with the outcome of today I am a little worried about making the bike completely unrideable as currently I reckon 1st and 2nd gear will be redundant !

That is highly impressive Can I have a go? And just for the record my bike ain't tuned it's just got a few bolt on bits lol

And just for the record my bike ain't tuned it's just got a few bolt on bits lol well your's is tweaked that's for sure, if I had put it against a standard 350LC graph it looks even more impressive !! I used your graph because they both make virtually the same BHP, so it was a good comparison, the only thing I didn't mention is that your bike is in 4th gear and mine was in 6th gear ! Yeah, once I put some brakes on it then you can have a go - its mad bonkers, no idea what a turbo is going to do to it, don't think first few gears are going to be much use ! and I can't run any lower gearing as its already on a 17/38 combo !

The fact that it was in sixth makes it even more impressive

Stock rd400s made about 38 ish at the rear wheel .Well that was about what my old rd400 dx was. Keep up the good work - a very interesting build.

puff !
you design an engine that will ride round all day in one gear ! and then say that you are worried about the turbo making it unrideable !
best make an electric one next 4 wheels , 18mph safe Not scary :Drack on the back for your zimmer frame :Doh and a pipe for your dreams

I'll give you a pipe for my dreams - ya cheeky *&^%$ , its your bleeding fault that I am doing the turbo (ok and plus about 10 pints of beer), but I am still blaming you for putting the idea in my head and then the two of us spending about £30 each on beer while we worked through the various problems, that was a long night !! That reminds me, I was meant to say we need to go a for a beer again, but it can't be Friday as I am up at 5:30am on Saturday morning to ride to the IoM, and I am not doing what I did last year ! will see you tomorrow as I'd like to do a quick run up of the bike......

feels like I've been working on it for ages, but its only been 5 months in reality, so it is quick really given what has been done in that time.......saying that, I've practically lived in the workshop for the last 5 months !
