Some of you might know i have been rebuilding an escort mk2 rs2000 1978 model over the last few years, the car has finally come out the garage now and took to the road for the first time in 32 years ! . . . went to a local show on monday to see how the car got on and to see what the purists thought of the car. Well all went well until i was "talked into", entering it into the show, to be judged. Something i have never done before, never really built the car for that but, after all the hard work, sweat and tears ( well nearly tears), i agreed, well it was my 11 year old son pleading with me. So after a few hours, judges came and went, viewed my car, all went quiet for 3 hours. When it came to presentation time, all was well . . . best in class on its first run out . . . . over the moon, all the hard work has paid off! anyhow, here are a few before and after pics, and one of when the car was last used , on the road in 1982.

Brilliant, congratulations and nice to see another classic ford owner/restorer on here! The car looks lovely and I can appreciate all of the hard work that goes in to restoring these, its the hours and hours you have to spend getting the minute details correct that makes all the difference.
Are you going to classic ford show at Santa Pod? im showing mine there this yr..

Her you go, my father worked as a mechanic at our local rs dealer, he had a rs2000 mk1 as a play car that soon become my oldest brothers, hence from the age of about 6 i had rs bug, the noise, the seats, right down to the smell of the interior . . i was hooked. At the age of about 11 i helped (well he might say otherwise!) my brother build a very very special motor for the mk1. It worked and it worked well. When my dad left the rs dealer he had the option to buy a rs2000 mk2, early car, infact a very very early car as i now know, a broadtripe 76 model. Rough as hell, been battered to hell. The would have been about 1988 so the car would have been 12 years old approx. Me and my brother set about rebuilding it to a super standard. And this went on to be a concourse show car. My brother was is the accident repair business, within the next 6 years i would say along came a damaged, escort rs turbo, these were the cars which were all new for my brother . . .driving wheels at the wrong end !. Anyhow once repaired he never really took to the way the car handled so it was stripped, had the floor pan removed and was replaced with an escort cosworth modified item. Lots and lots of work later the engine was also added. The engine was far from standard, and the performance was mind blowing, well for me at the rough age of 19 - 20 ish ? . I had a few fiesta xr2'2 mk1 and mk2's,. but the cosworth was something else

Fantastic job, there is something special about them. We had a group of about 5 lads back in the day with them obviously known locally as the rs boys. They were a couple of years older than me so by the time I could afford one I had a nearly new mk1 XR2, still wish I had bought an rs

Weston park, nothing too far for its first trip out ! . . . . you need to love the job of working on them otherwise dont even start it !. The same with the lc's, many many times everything seems to be going wrong, so its down tools and in the house to moan at the mrs ! cheers for the comments, glad you all like it. Strange how we all seem to like the same thing, from the same era ? ? ? ? days long gone now, shame really, people used to think we were bad pissing about in the cars, burn outs, dragging off the lights e.t.c . . . . i bet the do gooders of this country wish they could have us back instead of the scum bag rapist's, kiddy fiddlers, and smack heads !
Sorry im off again !
