I know most of us are in our forties BUT I reach 50 this year, does that mean I have to grow up, sell the Lc and Rgv and get a gold wing or a Harley?

Nope - I am 50 and still have an LC! There is no way I will ever get on a Harley (as I think they are over priced, poorly built heaps of s**t)

I thought that was the done thing, to sell the sports bike and get something like an LC when coming of age . But you might as well sell me that RGV, miles too uncomfortable for you

As some of you know I have a Harley & I'm 50. I'm used to the bigotry from people who in the main have never ridden one. I just like bikes, I don't have preconceived ideas about different makes. I've even owned Ho**as in the past. Here's a picture of a young girl on a HD like mine. It's not all old blokes & chrome / leather. see www.shezracing.com/

When I turned 50 I decided to buy an LC again after 30 odd years. I now have 4 and i'm only 51!
So no, you don't have to stop at 50, some of us are just starting again.

My comment about Harleys was meant as a bit of banter as they seem so far removed from the "culture" of the LC, that I feel they could be portrayed as the apparent "opposite".
However,my poor opinion of Harleys is precisely because I have had experience with them and has not been gained from the hearsay of others. I found them to be agricultural in design, poorly put together, and totally unsuited for the European user. The fact that one has to get "used to bigotry" when owning a Harley perhaps indicates that I am not the only person to have this opinion. My apologies if my opinion has upset Harley owners and I realise that all manufacturers products will have shortcomings, but at the end of the day, its just a motorcycle and I don't think I was being intolerant of anyone's race, creed, colour, belief or sexuality.

Who said your age had any thing to do with what type of bike you ride? Look at it this way, as your age goes up your insurance comes down but the fun factor stays the same WIN WIN

I'm 48 this year, and get even more excited if anything than when I was 20 when I wake up on a Saturday morning when the sun is out thinking great I can go and thrash the nuts off a bike. Non of them being boring cruisers. My mental age is lower than my teenage daughters. I bought a TZR250 3XV partly on the grounds that I saw a picture of one outside TOYS ARE US. Lets all carry on staying young.

Forgetfulness becomes a real problem with age, well it is for me. I cant find my tub of jets and carb bits. Only problem is, when I do find it, I will have forgotten what the **** a carb is!

I couldn't agree more with this!
I too have 1st hand experience of a Harley. They ARE put together badly and lack quality, mine is always leaking coolant and is rusting away nicely as I type! What's more, having a V-Rod not only alienates me from all my mates but also other Harley riders, which is REALLY amusing!!!, (seems that it's not a proper HD after all, being that it's water cooled and actually turning out some power!!).
My wife thinks that this is simply proof I'm a contrary git! She's probably right - Still, it is fun taking the Rod out when friends are on sports bikes, although I have worn down my heels trying to keep up!!
Heres a pic of it, so you can all have a laugh/chunder!?
