The kick starter on my N2 is worn and moves about a fair bit when I'm riding. It's both the fit on the splines and the joint where it rotates out (to kick it) that have too much play. Anybody ever tackled this problem and come up with a good fix (not including billet kickstarts or any other cheats!)

Did you ever sort this out? I have the same problem. The other day a strong wind blew the kick starter into my leg

I got a kickstart repair kit but it didnt help it much. The knuckle where the bearing sits is worn. Gonna weld it then grind flat then drill a new seat.

Splined joint can be fixed by enlarging (file) the slot that compresses(or is intended to)when the pinch bolt is tightened. Floppy arm is a bit more insiduous, as the actual shaft wears/ hole enlarges. Fitting a fresh spring and detent ball is supposed to help. Never has for mine though. Ideal would be to resize the shaft and hole fit.. Welding and Reaming?

you can also add a thin washer when fitting the repair kit, worked for me.

Wow. Thought this thread was dead. Thanks for the replies. Still floppy and not fixed. Where to the repair kits come from?

Splined joint can be fixed by enlarging (file) the slot that compresses(or is intended to)when the pinch bolt is tightened. I can confirm this works! Cheers. Just need to fix the floppy arm which I think is the main issue. Either that or buy a new one off norbo. Not sure if I can justify that though.
