I used gunk to start with and then a wipe over with a rag which had a little petrol on it, then a good wash in the sink straight after..made a huge difference.
It also took (jessy) a while to get out some crap that had made its way inside the oil tank, the outlet hole is very small and wouldnt take much to block it, so check the inside as well..

Dishwasher works well, but makes it smell funny!
Hot water , fairy liquid and a wheel cleaning brush works well.
I've heard of people using bleach to get rid of the yellowing, but not tried it myself.

Had bleach inside mine overnight last night in the header tank but didn't make much difference. Will see if i can't find a small flexible brush to get to the awkward bits inside as hot soapy water doesn't seem to have much of an effect

I used a bottle brush on the inside and toothpaste on the grubby marks on the outside and they cleaned up pretty good.

I had a veeeeeeery dirty overflow bottle (it was pretty much black frpm all the gunk in it) and tried everything to get it clean. I tried scrubbing with a tooth brush. I tried sand + water + shaking vigorously, and I tried with water and nuts and bolts and shaking and NOT A GOD DAMN THING HAPPENED. Ended up putting some petrol in it, shook it around a few seconds and the crap went away almost entirely! Did the process again and this left me with a nice, white overflow bottle.
