Hi Great pics. Gotta love the big old Zeds ! My brother had a Z650b1 in 1981 and it was a great bike, hence I always liked the kwaks. Dusty

Yours must have been a C reg F2 aswell Rich - I'm sure the early F2'S were quicker than the later ones.

Yours must have been a C reg F2 aswell Rich - I'm sure the early F2'S were quicker than the later ones. Indeed it was, C570 TJK was the reg and according to DVLA it's still about somewhere albeit yellow and on SORN. I bought it on my 19th Birthday (July) and couldn't wait the 2 weeks until August for the D reg to come out. I bought the Microns from JW Groombridge Motorcycles in Cross In Hand and they were £89! Rode home with them too, one pipe across my shoulder and the other across the girlfriend's! Bolted them on as soon as I got home and they transformed the bike. It would bury itself in the red and go off the clock. Sadly I sold it for a grand about 2 years later when I passed my car test and couldn't afford to insure both

My one was C708JVS which is probably about still in someones shed or garage. That was a quick one aswell reving right out to 10000rpm in every gear. I often used to choose to ride it over my Z1000J as it was more fun. Couldn't really afford to run both but somehow did. Sold to go backpacking around OZ. Still miss it now.Cheers Nick.

i had a tzr 250 like that got rid after 6 months as there was no way at the time to derestrict i believe .

Hi expat and Mark, yes the Z1000J is still a great alround bike finally finished mine - mot next week and will try and put up a couple of pics. The TZR 250 3XV is very costly to derestrict - Warrick on the TZR forum can advise on that. Personally I'm keeping mine standard as it is a joy to ride , sharp throttle response etc will indicate just over 120 def as quick as a good f2 Valve. Cheers .

Looking forward to the pics! I had an original TZR for a short time before moving on to early GSXR's (as we did!!) Here is a pic of my GSX1100 with suitable youthful exuberance!!

Love the GSX Expat, you obviously used to enjoy it. There are a couple of the Z1000J pics in the Diesel section if you want to have a look. Will put up better ones shortly.
