ok, its been asked, discussed, suggested and the likes, but those in the know, have been aware for a good while that the PWK's are a better carb for the LC than the standard LC, so finally here is the proof. Before and after dyno chart for the same bike with the 2 makes of carb fitted, no other changes have been made since the tests

its quite cheap to get a set of 30mm pwk's , well cheaper than 28's anyway and would make a interesting comparison, anybody got any pwk30's they want to donate for a test?

Dunno guys.. Sudco ONLY lists these (genuine) Keihin PWK sizes. www.sudco.com/pwk.html AS everyone knows there are * many * cheap/crap quality Keihin Klones, almost all on Fleabay. IMO, fit one of those and the headaches begin :-)

LOL I know I was trained by the REME (Rough Engineering Made Easy) (Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers) - but fook me, that's got to be some of the roughest engineering I've ever seen !! - now that was funny, wonder if he got the desired results he thought he was going to get !! Maybe I shoudl try that on my PWK's - coz its not like they are very dear or anything is it !!!

Christ on a stick, agreed that is the roughest bore I've seen. I understand the theory of surface atomisation by leaving a non polished surface to dissipate the mixture, but that's taking the piss I've seen 'Uncle Bob' do this, very time consuming and involves a lathe and plenty of very careful hand fettling, his results look like a stock carb until you measure them Your PWK v Stock Mikuni graph is exactly what I found, no real gain at the top end, but the midrange drive is fantastic, better than the graph suggests in the real world. Makes a big difference coming out of corners for sure. If I was after more top end I'l stick a pair of 34mm Mikunis on, I've had some very good results on them and the midrange drive is good too, the non powerjet VM series are a lovely straight forward carb and easy to set up.

G'day Interesting thread this. Been toying with the idea of getting some better carbs... So the PWK's seem to be of a significantly different design to the standard mikuni's - is that the key to the performance hike, or the 2mm bigger bore? Or both? I had a bit of a mooch, and it looks like genuine 30mm PWK's don't exist - 28mm, 29mm, then a weird jump to 33mm and up. www.keihincarbs.com/carbs/pwk/gate.htmlThey do 'PE' carbs in 30mm though, although they look similar to the mikuni's. www.keihincarbs.com/carbs/pe/gate.htmlAny of you chaps got any experience of these? Cheers - David

don't be using 4 letter words on here..........Sell Its one of my biggest problems, I am a magpie LOL (just ask grunt33 about the LC tank.) I was lucky to get a box of used 36mm & 38mm (4 each) with bits off a guy in the USA for a good price. The 36mm's will replace the 34mm's on the 750. Maybe even try the 38mm's on it. I have to say that once set up I never have to touch them - no fannying around with main jet changes (coz there aren't any) But they do take some getting you head around with set up (throw the Mikuni etc books away to stop getting confused)

I'm tempted to get a set for my build, they ain't all the dearer than new pwks and like the idea of trying something different
Plus they look more of a true flat slide than PWK

By the way, how do you run auto lube from pump through a PWK or lectron?
Also are these still gravity fed?
