On the surface looks really good but when you look close there is quite a lot to be improved. Just rebuilt the forks as they were leaking and changed the finish on the lowers from polished the brushed satin.
Mostly been buying parts to sort all the wrong or damaged bits, Blew £700 already, amazing how they swallow money even when they look good. Will update as go.

Been doing some bits and bobs but mostly finding bits for it Forks back on and cleaned wheel refitted Thought rear shock was knackered but once stripped damper rod is perfect and even still has damping. Spring coated black and body rubbed down and painted. Even made a new foam damper ring for the adjuster and a new bump stop Absolutely mint under the tank, just need to fit a indicator cancelling unit and replace the wrong ties on the frame rubbers The rest is just as good Even battery box is unmarked Got a new UK muddy and reflector for it so the Euro one is going All nice and corrosion free Rear shock back in so up on wheels again, even the chain looks new Dropped the oil out so next job is changing the RH case and fitting new water, oil and kick start seals while it is off. Some paint has flaked at the front edge, got a spare newly coated case so will swap it over. Also need to adjust the clutch and bin the clutch rings as got some drag. Steve

Not updated for a while, been doing a lot of little bits here and there Clock case replaced and MPH speedo fitted, managed to find one within 50 miles of correct conversion Self cancel unit fitted Fitted new pads as the near new ones it had were contaminated by the forks leaking oil. New lines fitted and banjo bolts re plated New grips, bar ends, NOS switchgear and brake master cylinder re painted. NOS clutch perch fitted. Barrels touched up, pv end cap repainted, YPVS on head polished. LH case powder coated, new seals, new clutch to replace the broken plates and all new Gen case and barrel screws Need to get the LH cover off now to replace all the screws and fing where the oil weep is coming from. Then it's pipes back on, fill with fluids, bleed the brakes and then onto bodywork. Steve

Looking great Steve, what a find in such great condition... Just a quick question on the rear shock, what paint did you use... How close to original is that , some muppet has painted mine black, just trying to get back to near original if possible... Liking the sponge too.....

Was this covered with bubble wrap for the last 20 years? Kostas It is in amazing condition and a lot is mint original condition but the frame has been blasted and painted by a previous owner. Still 15k in 30 years has been kind to it. A lot of the bodywork is even original paint. Steve

Ford Oyster gold, no lacquer. You will never get too near to the original but looks exactly like the pic in the flesh Steve

Just about finished all the mechanical jobs done. Oil leak on LH side turned out to be the chain covered in engine oil to lubricate it so when it was test rode it threw it all over the inside of the case and ran out. Tell tale sign was the oil on the top mating surface of the cover - it don't leak up the way. Double checked by presurising the gearbox and nothing came out so looks fine. Stripped the carbs to check if clean and jetting as noticed they are stamped 31W but all to UK spec and just the slightest sediment in the bowls so blew through the jets, air passages and emulsion tubes and fitted new gaskets to be sure. One pipe is 31k and the other is 31W but restrictor is removed so all ok. Brakes bled up and working so on to bodywork now. Tail panel had been repaired on LH side (ugly fibreglass and metal bracket job) and the two front lugs were cracked. The red on the LH side was a touch too light as is the red on the top fairing and the stripe on the muddy. Think I may get awat with the muddy as not directly next to any other red but fairing is cracked and needs work any way so will have a go at that. Got really lucky ( cheers shytalk ) and got an undamaged tail in original paint which has polished up great. Side panels another story. Paint great But lugs another story Half an hour later, some grinding, an old panel and some q bond A little sanding and some paint when I'm touching the fairing up and will be mint. Also got a crack on one of the belly pan lower mounts so will see how the red from rs paints is on the top fairing before I decide to fix or leave. Got a replacemet belly pan decal ready if I paint it. Steve

Time to have a look at the tank. Thankfully it is mint inside but god they really should have put more paint on the underside. It has spot rusted and some muppet had coated it with some black sealant shit This is it after 2 hours removing sealant Sanded it down a bit and rubbed the rust on the seams away Gave it a nice thick brush coat of rust treatment primer to sort out the surface rust left after sanding then masked the edges and zinc primed Looking better already. Waiting for the fine line masking tape to arrive then I'll mask up and try out the RS paints rattle cans Steve

Wheeled the bike out today. Filled with fluids, a bit of premix till I get the pump primed and she fired up. All electrics test ok and settled down once warmed up all nice and quiet. All done bar the top fairing and belly pan Top fairing mount repaired, brackets straightened and finally got some paint to not react. Just need to fit the brackets, the screen and the trim Steve

Tackled the belly pan last night. Nasty crack through the lower mount repaired Did get new "RD350" decals just in case but wanted to try and keep the original ones as all others as when it left the factory so masked up, prepped and painted. Nightmare to cut in the new paint as the 2 stage paint don't like it. If you don'y have the white base under the red it comes out burgandy so difficult to mist in the red. Think I got away with it. All with rattle cans. Steve

What a beauty - inspiration for me to pull my finger out! Well done with the underside of the tank - I love touches like that, nobody sees it but you know it's there and that gives you one of the internal smiles.
