Hello, Have a look at the picture, this is the gear that is bolted on my crankshaft. There are marks where the seal runs, does anyone had that before? Is it ok to go with a new seal or do I need to change the gear. Lets hear what the experts on the forum have to say Thanks Kostas

there is usually some "polishing" marks and as long as not deeply grooved or rough it will be fine

Thanks Steve,
There is a groove which is kind of visible on the picture, that's why I asked, just don't know how sensitive the seal is to that. Think I'm gona polish it with the scotch brite and fit it.

That will be fine. Just do as you say with the scothbright. If you measure the depth of the wear you will be surprised how slight it really is.

I bet it will not be more than 3 thou of an inch.
Thanks Gary

No worries, I don't know the exact size of the inner lips but 3 thou on that diameter is nothing to worry about.
