Well I recently started out on my first real LC project and realised that all that bending in cold conditions wasn't good for my back and was spoiling my fun. So being on a tight budget, i asked around to see if anyone had a lift for sale as didn't want to spend £300 on a new one, not yet anyway. I had little luck, but eventually saw a small lift unit on fleabay and bought it for £20. Was a bit rough, so cleaned it up a bit, and gave it a lick of paint.... Then picked up an unwanted kitchen worktop for £21, trimmed it down a bit and fixed it to the top of the lift. Bolted my wheel chock to it, added a couple of eyes to anchor the ratchet starps to it, and bigo, I now have a lifting work surface for less than £50... Hopefully this will allow me to get on with my LC 250 refurb project. More on that will follow in coming months......

Nice work, glad to see you got some blocks/stabilisers on the ends, thought a worktop would go banana shaped after a few weeks with a bike on. Just need a decent top (or just strenghten with some angle) and I can't see any reason to buy another lift, looks a very good idea to me.

A normal 40mm work top will just snap once it weakens especially if it gets damp, we have a load of damaged ones at work , great for work benches tho .

Think I'll 'borrow' some RSA from work in the new year!
