I have 2 sets of different bolts on my bike, they are both the same length but on one side , they are all olive green, the other , plain zinc. I also have a complete set, bought elsewhere from a forum member , supposedly for a 350LC which as you can see are shorter, im hoping I can use these, whats your thoughts people? Ill be using the standard disc bolt washer/locking thing when I pop the discs back on the wheel. The olive green ones are correct as far as I know, the zinc ones just look like a standard bolt from any 'hardware' store 13mm AF at a guess?

All the old reference pictures of new or NOS bikes I viewed didnt show the bikes with olive green brake disc bolts..confused.com

As far as I know they should be Zinc plated not olive green and were then painted over with blue like a marker pen where the the locking tab secures it.

Mine are bright zinc and the previous thread with the NOS bike also shows bright zinc.

It also stands to reason that different suppliers supplied different finished bolts,a bit like if you order NOS headlamp mounting bolts, some are olive green/black and some are bright zinc, it is the luck of the draw!

Black is the new olive. The old process of producing the olive finish is no longer used, If you get new old spares they will have the olive finish, but not all NOS advertised spares are old. I think cyanide was used in the olive passivate.

Hi,
I bought a set of Standard disc bolts a few months back from Granby, and they were an olive green type colour,scimilar to the ones on the right of your pictures, they were still available. From memory, if you use a 13mm head or a cap screw, the left hand side disc bolts fouls the speedo drive.
The M8 tapped holes in the wheel go all the way through, so slightly longer should not make a difference, as long as the bolt heads are 12mm A/F.
LC,s have J.I.S fasteners as opposed to D.I.N fasteners, thats why you get some "funny" bolt head sizes, ie..M8 with a 12mm A/F head, or M10 with a 14mm a/f head etc.
J.I.S = Japanese Industrial Standard.
D.I.N = Deutsches Institut für Normung (German Industrial Standard.) D.I.N. is more of what we use in Europe.
steven.

Thanks for that Steven, i think ive sussed what may have happened..My bike was a 250 and was converted to a 350, which is more than likely why it has 2 different sets of bolts in the same wheel. The original ones looked like the attached, thats what im going for, with a 12mm head.. [a href=" |http://thumbsnap.com/GdIc58Dq"] |http://thumbsnap.com/GdIc58Dq[/a]

Hi, I see you have the later type forks too. I think im correct in saying, that the earlier forks did not have a screw for draining the fork oil out of them. steven.
