Getting on with the400 strip and rebuild but i need to remove the steering lock before it goes for powder coat, do I just grind off the rivet for the cover or is there an easier way, i want to save the lock as the lockset matches

The rivet is just on a twisted spine, if you get a flat screwdriver under the cover you can gently prize the rivet out .

If you have the key the lock will come out easy when the cover is removed.
