Hi all, this winter I'm jazzing up the rear of my F2 with a metmachex swinger R6 shock convo and alloy dog bones from BDK Eng. James at BDK recommends the shorter 'bones which apparently raise the rear end by 0.75 inches which he says is just what they need. I understand the R6 unit lifts the back a little, so does anyone know whether the additional height from the shorter bones will lift it too high? TBH the ride height is something I've never been that bothered about, the bike is an everyday rider & not a trackbike. Improvements are always welcome but I don't want to overdo it and end up with an unrideable freak. Has anyone else done anything like this, I'm sort of inclined to get the std bones but any tips would be appreciated. Cheers to all :-)

Only issue i see is with the stand(s), rasing the back will mean the center stand needs some blocks welded under it and maybe the same with the sidestand, my r6 shocked F1 only just sits on the center stand ok, any more height and it'd not work, but not all r6 shocks are the same it seems.

You do have to be careful raising the back end on a YPVS. The usual problem is that the Metmachex arm has thicker box section where the shock comes through and most shocks have a fatter spring than the standard unit. It doesn't take much before the spring fouls on the inside of the arm. I reckon you won't need shorter bones as the R6 shock will be longer that standard to start with. I ran a Fazer shock and Metmachex arm on an LC2 and it fouled. I had to have the cross brace on the arm scalloped out to clear the spring and that was with standard bones.

Thanks guys thats just what i needed. Had the shock and the s/a in the same room for 4 weeks & never thought to check clearance. No centre stand anyway (Allspeeds) but when it was on there was from memory a good inch and a half from the back wheel to the ground so a massive lift from the shocker alone it seems, my R6 one is roughly 33cm centres, dunno what a std 'valve one is. The chain adjustment on the metmachex is via an eccentric where the rear spindle goes through which also affects back end height by an inch or so. Anyway, my original q is answered, standard length bones it is. Thanks agin ;-)
