I am getting some things powder coated in a few weeks when I get back onshore I now know that my barrels are meant to be left plain alloy but has anyone had a head done in powder coating and I believe it is meant to be gloss black.

Barrels should not be bare alloy, think they were satin black.
Yes head should be gloss black, my only concern with pc on the head is you are going to heat it to around 200 centigrade so would have slight concerns about warping. Would prefer to bolt it to some heavy steel/alloy plate which would also protect the gasket face.

I am fairly sure that F2 barrels were plain alloy....
I wouldn't powder coat any top end component due to the insulation properties and thickness of the powder coat which isn't what you want in a top end component...

Difficult to see barrels on an F2 reference pic but N2 was the same barrel part number www.rd350lc.net/1UAside-bck.jpgThe satin paint did tend to fade away like the 125's Steve

My N2 has plain alloy barrels on it. I painted them black because the brochure pictures shopw black barrels. It may be my barrels came from an F2.
Black is better for heat dissipation, but I wouldn't be powder coating head or barrels.
Simonez Engine Enamel gives a nice finish and matches the originial stove enamel. You'll need to get them bead blased first (but make sure you mask off the cylinders first!)

Just painted a 31k motor with PJ1 Gloss black and looks great. Getting hard to find PJ1 now as discontinued.

F2's definitely had black painted barrels from new - I had one after I passed my test in 86! The standard barrel black did fade though so many do look like bare alloy these days. LC barrels had much better paint.
