Hi all,i have just been having a look over my rd as it is pissing down and found that the gear linkage ball has major play in it,enough to need replacing. Is a Yamaha one still available or would the pattern one for a 81/82 non ypvs fit? Any imfo would be helpful as all I can find on the net is the fake one.

Alternatively, drill out the old ball joints and buy a couple of rose joints off ebay and make up a new linkage.

Don't do it, you'll end up spending fortunes! You don't need to select Yamaha, just type in the part number into the search box.

IF..? ambitious, one could use Bespoke Rose joint/Heim bearings and cobble up a rod linkage that will outlive the bikes frame. Unlike the crap bits that Yama San fitted. In Aircraft certified versions (Pricey): www.aircraftspruce.ca/menus/ap/bearings_heim.html But local Go Faster car shops typically carry several varieties in varying levels of quality and pricing. Just a thought?
