Thought I'd start a thread on my rebuild with a bit of history. Bought the bike in1983 its a 81 350 3 previous owners. Blew a hole in the r/h piston about 3 months later parked it up and went to the pub. Had a rd125 to run to work so never bothered doing anything with it apart from strip it down with the intention of re painting it(it was yellow with a red frame and everything painted red even the engine casings and yellow wheels absolutely hideous what was I on when I bought it). After about 5 years I painted the frame black and left it in boxes for another 25 years. Now want it on road for my 50th in june. Wish I'd taken more photos before I started but didn't know about this forum. I'll post photos as I go along but haven't discovered how to put text with photo yet.

Good look on the rebuild job. It will be good to get a few pictures . I am going to start a thread about my rebuild also. I am a little like yourself . I am 46 and owned several LC's over time.I have owned my rebuild since 1988 and its been in boxes since 1991 . Besure to ask for help about the pics. I had a hard time for a few days, but sorted now. Looks like we will have a few projects to follow over winter.
Alex.

I've shotblasted the wheels myself with a portable blaster that I "borrowed" off a mate who borrowed it from someone else a long time ago and forgot to give it back lol. Still took all day and 2 gallon of coffee to blast them but far better when you get them back to bare metal. I will post photos when I learn how to work this feckin phone.

I know it's got nowt to do with my lc but here's more pics of the mk1. It breaks my heart every time he takes it into the forests but better to watch than all the subarus etc driven by bloke's with all the gear and no idea.

Well spotted it's putting 140 bhp at the wheels don't sound a lot nowadays but its quick enough. Through a 5 speed professional quaife box and a 5-1 diff in a wide axle.

Great work Calum64 . looks like you got the pictures sorted out at last. I have enjoyed the Escort pics too, myself and my mates all run Mk2 's in the day I had a bored 1700 x-flow 285 cam and a pair of 40's .Peco hdr manifold and single HDR exhaust . It sounded GREAT! I did then swap back to a twin choke 32/36? weber to help the fuel as a daily driver. Nothing like as trip as the Mk 1 above though .
looking forward to some more bike progress pics, and the fill in story.
Alex.

dear santa can I have a new crank to go in here? Apart from a few small jobs thats it until funds allow any more progress. Going to leave the paintwork till last mainly because I can't decide what I want. I have a set of genuine yamaha tank graphics in blue but I change my mind every 2nd day so it's getting left or by the time l finish it I'll have changed again.
