Thanks for the reply ! Have you ever enquired to see if its possible? Surely they were a dealer part at one point especially with the 4l1 4lo appetite for taking chunks out of them when the chains snapped? These have an astrix and yt scraped on with a screw driver probably for the mot/ log book!

Why wouldn't you? There actually sat in a cupboard just wondered if it was a possibility and if it had been done! It's a yamaha part there not stolen so if you have a bike with non matching numbers you could make it so legally!

Interesting thread, I too have a pair of cases with 29L only stamped on them. Why is this??? Easy to stamp up with some low stress stamps.

Why stamp virgin cases ? that will f##k them up and make them look dodgy Because you will end up with a matching numbers bike worth much more moola OEB

Why stamp virgin cases ? that will f##k them up and make them look dodgy You would only f@ck them up & make them look dodgy if you didn't know what you were doing. Original cases were hand stamped with a particular font stamp. If you had the correct font stamps and stamped them yourself they would look the same... or did the Japs employ stamp specialists???

Still say leave them alone Matching numbers brigade are the same as the green bolt brigade I have some replacement unstamped cases too and I wouldn't bother stamping either, just that I know if I wanted to stamp them then I could do the same job as the japs did 30 years ago.

sorry marsbar i read your message wrong the 250s matching numbers its the 350 rolling chassis that isnt!or is it?Done my matching numbered 4lo about 5 years ago cost me a bloody fortune and prices were at a premium! Theres still the odd part im not happy with but along the way ive picked up a few parts! started another project which i didnt really throw my heart into, so for the last couple of years ive just looked at!Bearing in mind ive extended the house in my spare time! Think my friends get more buzz out of my lc they just sit behind snorting two stroke fumes! thats going nowhere, but have a ton of parts or a good project if anyones intrested before it goes on the bay and the missis whants the extension finishing lol
