Hi, This may be of no interest to anyone except myself, but I thought I,d post it anyway. I have been a subscriber to CMM (Classic Motorcycle Mechanics) magazine for several years now. The magazine has openly admitted in the past that they have a "soft spot" for LC,s. I have been following Niall Mackenzies 4L0 restoration in CMM magazine over the past few months, and have just read his road test report of it, now that he has completed it, in this months magazine. He has restored a white and blue two stripe standard 4L0, to be the same as his first LC. He tells of how in September 1980 he bought his very first LC from Bill Fleming motors in Glasgow. He tells us that the registration of his very first LC was PUS 581W. I think I have posted this pic on here before, but here is a picture of MY first LC I got in about 1985. steven.

I've been following it too and am also a subscriber. Was hoping for a bit more input from CMM at the Gibson Exhuast day and becoming less and less of a fan of this Scott Redmond bloke who seems to have a huge input into the magazine. From what I can see he's little more than a greedy bike breaker who's trying to justify breaking good classic bikes by saying it keeps numerous other bikes going.

Hi, I know who built it too now, a wee birdie told me ! lol, well a wee birdie didnt tell me who built it, but told me it was someone on here, I have just surmised who built it now after reading the postings.
Yes that is a LADA in the pic and it was not mine, it belonged to someone who lived across the road from me. At that time I had a "77 Chevy"...........an S regi Vauxhaul Chevette, lol.... hatch back and was a yucky light blue colour. You set the tappets with the engine running, and put oil in the dash pot of the carb, and of course set the points every now and again. It had something like 105,000 miles on it when I sold it for £50 when I went away to the navy. On my first leave home, I saw some wee dude running about in it, and got a horrible churning feeling in my stomache seeing someone else running about in MY Chevy ! lol steven.

Your chevy was way cooler than mine at the time Steven. Mine was a yellow saloon with shi#y brown interior that needed new points every thousand miles

I got the mag with the final story in it just to see what he thought of it . Would have been nice for him to have put a thanks to rd lc crazy as a place to get parts from seeming as most of the Gen yam and Patten parts came from us. But then again as he didn't actually build it he's not really to know that is he.
It was a good read though and I hope he gets a lot of miles on it and enjoys the bike. I love it when well known people have a love for these bikes. You know Terry Rymer has 1 and 2 ypvs and a 125lc and about 5 other 2 strokes now thers a man with a love for strokers .
