Hi all,
Just joined the forum, was hoping someone can help. I am in the process of rebuilding a 1987 tzr 125 and would like to do the wheels in the same style as the rd (black paint with the polished aluminium on the rim and top of the inner spokes. what is the process for attaining this finish ? and could anyone recommend a decent place to get it done ?
Cheers,
scoub.

Hello mate & welcome to the forum.....
The really correct way would be to spray paint satin black (not too thick so you can still see the casting finish) and then diamond cut the rim and spoke faces. Diamond cutting LC wheels is pretty pricey though.
You could strip the wheels of paint, mask the rim/spoke faces, paint and then polish the rim/spokes.
Best ringing around a few alloy wheel refurbishers as a start.

Thanks winnerevo1, thats a good starting point, was wondering if powder coat could be a possibility?

Powdercoat is certainly possible (think I've got a pair of powdercoated/polished wheels in the garage) and of course more durable to brake fluid etc. Powdercoat is more difficult to remove though so you would need good masking beforehand if hand polishing after.
Powdercoat would be fine, I was just commenting on wet painting as it looks more original.
