Hi, am starting a rebuild on a early 250lc , the frame has no engine bars brackets, it also has a steering lock on the head stock not on the ignition. Iam trying to find a key to fit the lock, i have the numbers of the barrel. So if anyone can help, please get in touch.

Deffo early if no tie bars.
Lock on headstock points to euro import. Either get a new complete lock or cut it off, weld up the hole and grind back then fit an ignition switch with the lock built in. Simon5 on here can match the new ignition switch to the other locks as long as it is gen Yam

Also check out the key 4770 in the wanted section, link to a site that makes keys by the number

My LC is also very early, no engine bars and lock on head stock and the engine number is in the 300's. She came from Germany. In my fuzzy memories I thought my original 1981 LC also had the lock on the head stock but it was a long time back.

have been told about a place in Basildon who can cut Yamaha keys from numbers or from scanned images. will give them a call Monday. if no luck I guess I will drill it out and get new one. Have done Nova dec so just have to build it mot it and register it, fingers crossed for age related plate.
