I'd like to say "thanks" also, for all the hard work and patience that has obviously gone into not only the testing but being bothered to write it all up AND share it with everyone. Ta!!!

Great results and like you say stock motor etc but just look at the gains with just going a little further with a tune on the barrels,V force for a start hoping to do something with that next year, but its expensive all of this, so far this year I've spent in the region of £2k on the dyno and buying parts etc, money I doubt I'll ever make back in reality, although it does help me advise my customers and sort their bikes out etc. Its great and really appreciated by me that all of you guys are so positive about what I have done, not just on this test but also the mid-range postings etc I did earlier this year, I have a good number of things I want to try and I also want to do a very similar thing with the A/C RD's, although the 250's are different animals to the 400's, so its 2 bikes worth of testing etc. For me to take the 350LC further I need to sort out some barrels so that I can do small tweaks to the ports etc, but finding a set of barrels with standard porting isn't easy or cheap (anyone got some they want to donate?), my next test is to sort the squish on the head out and see what difference that makes, I have 2 heads to go at, I'll start by taking one down from the 1.7mm to 1.2mm and the other down to 1mm and then trying them, of course this is expensive as well since I will be using genuine Yamaha head gaskets ! I know some poeple suggest a squish of 0.9mm or even 0.8mm but I think that is probably pushing it for the crank, although I am building a new crank at the moment with TZ big ends, so if I do decide to push the envelope it will hang together all being well. You see, there's another couple of hunderd quid just in the crank, let alone the cost of stripping and rebuilding the engine, it all adds up !! Maybe I should set up a donation scheme.......... if you need some porting work done muts, let me know and i'll do it for you matey......as you know, i've been porting two strokes for the last 35 years and i think i can help you on the AC side of things lol lol

You may fined it cheaper to do the barrels to use a TZ750 O ring like I do on my old race bike its cheep to replace an o ring but you do need to get the head re profiled to run with an O ring but at the end of the day its a good mod if your doing a lot of work on barrels .

great job! is there any graph to compare pipes trough whole rev .. ?
I'm more interested how they perform low / midrange then the top speed/rev
Thanx for the effort & posting ;-)

If its low and midrange power you are interested in, then think the new Kenny pipes would be the ones for you, when I rode foxy's bike with them on I couldn't believe the power they made from low down

Considering everyone slags Allspeeds off as shit they do well against a lot of pipes here, i rate speeds as road pipes, they just dont rev high but my 3504LO does 115mph two up with speeds on......its screaming but it does it.

don't think anyone is slagging allspeeds off, I love the sound of them, but with mine on the dyno the power dropped like a stone at 8,500 rpm, so have ordered kennys pipes as they do what I want them to do as I do trackdays and ride fast on the road point of these tests was to do a pipe comparison test and think dave did an awesome job doing this and paid for the dyno time himself out of his own pocket, and since we had the dyno all day this wasn't cheap

Yea speeds dont rev high but thats not the point, on the road they are tractable, i went all over Devons cliff roads this summer and if had been on high end pipes i would have been in the shit on 1 in 25 hills. I think for the road they are ideal, the Swarbricks i had were bloody awful for anything but tits out. Saying that i would love to try some of Kennys or Mick Abbeys pipes just to compare.

Stock cylinders ypvs pistons lightened flywheel 31K ypvs carbs carbon reeds small can allspeeds. Always goes straight to 110, 115 takes a bit of downhill but she always does it....hand on clutch, my stock bike will do over a ton easy.

Hi all from Canada. This is quite interesting. So the Allspeeds "look" really good, and their numbers are good. So would the English recommend them? Thanks for the advice. I'm a RD rider since 1980 and LOVE my LC. Laker

Laker it all depends what you want from a set of pipes, I had alspeeds, well new Gibson exhausts that are allspeeds if you understand, sounded brilliant, good midrange but power dropped like a stone at 8,500rpm I want the power to keep coming so have ordered a set of Kenny's tsa pipes, which also sound superb by the way Kenny has also developed some pipes that produce power low down the rev range If you want pipes like we had in the eighties go for allspeed/Gibson exhausts the choice is down to the individual and I for one am glad we have the choice and the information to help us decide

I'm a RD rider since 1980 and LOVE my LC. Laker Hi Laker, as Mike (RD LCLazy) as stated, its down to personal preference, the Allspeeds are certainly a good pipe and the test bare that fact out, but more power can be had from different pipes and the more modern sculptured pipes like Kenny's (TSA) do release more horses from your engine. It also comes down to your engine/carb configuration etc as well, if you want the 80's look then Allspeeds/Microns etc are the route to go as they where the most common pipe in the day, Swarbricks I'd avoid and the others don't really give you anything more than the Allspeeds etc and are sculptured pipes, so if you go down that route then you may as well go for those that give you the most gains, which would be Kenny's HTH

Did I reed the graphs right that the Allspeeds give the better of the Mark bottom end up to about 4500 then equal to 7000 then the TSA's go again at 75000 stronger than the Allspeeds and there after.
