Bottom bearing on the connecting rod has decided to give up ,which has kind of impacted onto the piston and broken the bottom end off.i suppose one way of looking at it ,it could of been worse..... Question is do I take the motor out ,or can I leave it in ??

Engine out and rebuild me thinks, looks like its got very hot in there. Dont you just love two strokes - give you something to do over the winter though Jess

There will be bits of piston down inside and maybe got in to the main crank bearings too . Major failure there, so its a crank rebuild required too. Good luck - but you need to check the two stroke lube delivery as it looks like it aint had any recently.

Have already found plenty of piston...Plenty of oil in the delivery tube so I am thinking maybe the oil into the carb got blocked which caused it to get hot..The crazy thing was it was going really well, did not even expect it to go POP

Make sure that oil pump is working ok. You can do it yourself, if you want, just make sure you are 100% happy with it.

Yes the oil pump should be the very next thing to be rebuilt accurately, Arrows the man,he has done 2 for me, first one was uprated standard one 2nd was his production modified one. Very happy with both. Mark.

I think Arrow charges about £45, but check by PM ing him. The stroke is critical. My oil pump was fine, but had zero stroke - end result? Blown crank! I refurbed my pump, with advice from Arrow, and set the stroke to 0.3mm. Smokes like a b*****d now, but that confirms it's getting lots of oil through. There are lots of road situations when you shut down at high rpm and unless you have the right stroke your engine will be starved of oil temporarily. The refurb is easy, but for £45 I'm going to send my spare pump off to Arrow. He's the oil pump man!

Is there a factory spec for a first rebore on .25 pistons or do you just leave it up to the engine recond guys??

Buy the pistons first & give them to your rebore man with the barrels. He'll do the rest if he knows his onions.

Send your crank & barrels to PJME they will rebuild the crank, reborn the barrels & supply the pistons, rings etc. OEB

Be careful buying pistons first as if they don't clean up at 0.25 you may have to go out to + 0.50 Best to ask the place who is doing the work.

Arrow is the man for your pump. He knows what he is doing and it's one less thing to worry about in my opinion.
