hi all. stickin this in here as I need a quick response! bought an f2 1wt. re ringed and set carbs up...all standard with standard pipes. seemed ok. did a few miles on it then just wouldn't start. ive checked stator and pick up all in tolerance. ignition coil has either no/weak sparks..... primary winding seems high at 0.5 (manual states 0.28-0.38) secondary windings ok. so....thought id found problem BUT...after a few kicks I can get it to start but it either runs on 1 cylinder or runs really rough and this I cant work out....if I rev it fast then the revs stick for a few seconds then drop down to rough tickover or stalls? ? Ive heard cdis can break down and the constant kicking energises the capacitors enough to start but the cdi can then send crap signals and bugger the coils... Someone mustve come across this before HELP!!!!

Did you put the float bowls on the correct sides.
They will fit each other but only one has the choke jet in it making it a bitch to start. Eventually gets enough fuel to fire so revs up rough then dies.
Either take the bowls off and check or sit a fan heater pointed at the engine till warm then try to start. May be worth cleaning the plugs first or fitting new ones.
Also disconnect the side stand switch in case it is duff.

cheers steve but it was running ok. and when I set carbs I did them seperate so shouldnt have mixed the bowls up. if I disconnect side switch do I need to loop or ground anythin or just unplug?

check for air leaks, especially any link pipes between the carbs.
Revs slow to come down isnt electrical.

When you are measuring the primary winding, remember to zero your meter first or hold the probes together and note the reading, then add that on when connected across the pri windings. Maybe worth fitting a new coil anyway. Lord Norbs does "Banchee" ones. Good price as well, not worth buying a second hand one.
