Question to hybrid builders. Will shortly be rebuilding my Yamagamma that I built back around 1989. At the time I used the standard RG250 MK3 clocks and just changed the rev counter to a R&R unit as the gear ration of the standrd RG rev counter is apparently different and I used the RG temp gauge and everything seemed to work fine. The intention now is use a RGV VJ22 usd front end and I would like to use RD350LC clocks with no fairing hence wanting to use RD350LC clocks as they look a lot neater, but only go up to 120mph. Question 1 - connecting the RGV speedo drive to the LC clocks should be relatively simple just find a suitable cable but how accurate will the speedo reading be? Different size front wheel, different gear ratios etc. Question 2 - my engine is a 31K so has a mechanical rev counter drive so if I connect the cable to the LC clocks hopefully it will read correctly ? Question 3 - will the temperature gauge of the 350LC clocks read correctly ? cheers Rich.

1 - not sure personally. 2 - pretty sure that the gear drive inside the crankcase is the same between 350LC and pv, so yes. I think F2 pv motors have the gear removed so you have to be sure that you actually have the shaft/gear inside the motor. Anyway, you can retrofit the LC shaft/gear to the pv crankcase. I have a 31k motor but it doesn't have the gear inside, which I will fix in time. 3- yes - the thermistor in a PV head is the same as the LC (I measured them). J

I ran a set of RG125 clocks on my 31K for years and the speedo read a bit fast I think, and it only went up to 100 so spent most of its time against the stop! You don't really need a speedo right? It's flat out all the way and if not then 'go with the flow' to stay out of trouble!

I have it on good authority that speedo will run approx. 4% out.

If you want a speedo over 120 you can fit xj 650 or 1100 internals which read higher.

4% out - is that all? Nothin' to worry about then, but it'd be good to know which way it's out!

With RGV forks/speedo drive and LC clocks, use an OEM RGV speedo cable, its longer than the knock offs.

Cheers Guys that's the answers I was hoping for and like the idea of the XJ650,XS1100 internals, and 4% out is perfectly acceptable. Thanks Rich.
