Check the thread on the stud itself, if the look ok, it sounds like it could be the casing thread. Any decent machine shop could put a helicoil in there to fix it.

sounds like its maybe pulled the threads out with it when you were pulling it out.. just heli-coil it.. can buy the kits on ebay for about 15 quid, gets you the appropriate sized drill-bit, tap and heli coil insert.. fantastic job, I've used them on quite a few occassions.. even made use of them when putting threads into my hybrid coil bracket..

The best repair if the threads are damaged in the barrel is a timesert insert. www.timesert.com/

I sent my barrels away to be done. here; www.westgatehill.com/arm.htm .Just keep checking the nuts are tight, without making them any tighter than standard, if that makes sense. It takes a while for the exhaust gaskets to 'bed' in.

A repair for an 8mm stud, unless I'm corrected.

Yeah 8mm x 1.25 I believe.. studs can be bought cheap as chips I don't really use a torque wrench for exhaust studs but probably about 15nm if I were to take a guess at what I put them at with the hand torque meter lol

Aye they don't need mental amounts of torque.. just make sure you tighten both sidesturn about to make sure the collar is being tightened evenly..

You could try a longer stud or bolt as well first, it might have a few good threads at the bottom of the hole, but I would bet, sooner or later it will need doing properly as mentioned.

I believe the torque setting for exhaust nute is 16 lbf ft, or 21 Nm if you work in metric
