I have a slight gas leak from my Gibson pipes at the barrel joint on a pipe that only has one spring on it. I've ordered a new spring from Gibsons and they told me to use a hight temp silicone sealant when fitting the pipe, saying they use it all the time. Has anyone else used silicone sealant and if so, which do you recommend? Most of the stuff I've researched has a temp rating of 350 degC, but I would expect gas temp at the barrel joint to be way higher than that.

Loctite 5920 copper silicone gasket... Been sealing headers on my xj600 since I changed her exhaust before Christmas and still sealed now... I'd modified a set of fzr400 headers to fit and couldn't get faces of the pipes flat with an angle grinder lol

Once My pipes were leaking at the slip joint. Use Orange Hi temp Silly-cone everyone suggested. Bought some Put it on with care let it cure well/overnight. before riding. 3 days later the stuff was a gooey orange Glop seeping from the joint. Yikes! Tried it again let it 'cure' for 3 nights. By end of the week it was again dripping orange Jello. Thinking I had a bad batch I did a tester. Nope it hardened up as claimed. Seems the Crap doesn't like oily exhaust.. at least on MY bike. Wiping the slight oil leak from the pipes' unadulterated slip joint after every ride is MUCH easier.

It might not last forever, as silicon RTV isn't fuel resistant, and you get fuel/air mixture puffing in and out of the 2 stroke exhaust.
