I think we're all quite cool about how a bike is, we have our budget, we buy the bike we can afford and then may or may not decide to spend some more on the cosmetic items. I think we all appreciate LCs , from rough n ready standards, hybrids to the total factory bike bike this part may end up on !
However, comments like this by Bertie, fan the flames:-
"I hate to sound like a troll but I can't believe the number of people who don't realise this is a rare part. Not many lc anoraks issued these days by the looks of it? Please do your homework before posting."
...dont do anyone any favours....Sorry Bertie, that comes across as elitist and snobby, which im sure your not , consider we have newbies joining all the time with their "new" LC purchase and finding out for themself whats common(more than you'd think) and rare( again, more than you think!)
£200-£500 for a clock cover would be a bit rich for most (me included) but I wouldnt persecute anyone for paying that but please dont attack others for a lack of knowledge before considering you may need to do a little homework yourself.

I think Berties comment is a tongue in cheek reference to the banter that used to go on between the "anorak brigade" & the "custom/hydrid crowd" OEB PS. Not forgetting the "decal police"

Blimey "elitist", don't think I have ever been called that before - LOL. And look at all the words. Although I didn't buy this item I am one of the "daft" "fools" referred to in this thread that pay strong money for rare bike parts. Anyway on a more lighthearted note, I take it that nobody here will be recruiting for the LC police. Well maybe except for OEB

Is it just me or is there something slightly anal about green bolt resto's.lc's were built to be ridden and modified to the owners spec. I think each to their own - personally I like to ride my LC and am not fussed about originality but if someone wants to have a completely original LC with all the green bolts then that's fine by me too. it's good that we keep these bikes going in whatever guise - arguing amongst ourselves as to which is better is completely pointless. Nothing wrong with friendly banter though!! Yesterday I found a ZINC SHINY BOLT on my bike and to make matters worse it had ***king GKN stamped on it!!!!!!! I promptly set the bike on fire.....That will teach the barstwerd who sold the bike to me a lesson he wont forget in a hurry! Steve h, Burns unit, Chorley Hospital, Green Nuts Lane. ANN 4LL

If you do a green bolt rebuild do you have to run it on 2 star?

If you do a green bolt rebuild do you have to run it on 2 star? No, but you have to wear a Nolan lid, a YPVS paddock jacket and white Hi Tech ankle trainers.

And a pair of gloves all covered in shiny studs, so you burn s*ite out of your hands as well as skinning your a*se. (And wearing a YPVS jacket whilst riding a "proper LC" is an arrestable offence.)
