Just been reading in mcn about yamaha making the rd 350 again, but it'll not be 2 stroke, my opinion is that they are just cashing in on a name, How many on this site are going to sell there real rd for a new one ? Not many I would think! Don't get me wrong I'm sure it will be a nice bike just not a rd.

The RD 350 again or a RD350 ? It would screw up the scene a bit if they did a complete 4L0 re-release (even with 4 stroke lump, as we'll just swap them over), not that would be their reason for making a 4 stroke version.

That's an old picture, been knocking around for years. As said junk the deisel engine & graft in a PV lump. This is what inspired my hybrid build.

The launch of the new Mini, Beetle and Fiat 500 actually raised interest of the original cars and boosted the value of the "real" cars. I would think a similar thing may happen with "real" RDs and of course we will be able say to the owners of the new ones "they are OK I suppose but I prefer the real thing" By the way Nick - I think your hybrid build looks better!

I agree, the re-release of any item generates desire for the "original " real thing ,,, Agree with head coats comments, don't worry about it, probably never happen. I think Yamaha have bigger fish to fry with regards to the global market than chasing this one.

Hi, If the "new" one is a 350 4 stroke, wont the "old" 350 2 stroke be faster/more powerful than the old one? Iv got a Z750, its an "old" one its an L4 (1984 vintage) some folk think I have a "new" Z750 when I tell them thats what I have got. I gave a bloke a hand years ago to put a 400/4 engine in an a/c rd frame....

If anyones going to do it, it'll be KTM....having said that, the KTM 390 seems to be on the right road already, I bet thats a belter, 4 stroke or not.

What I load of crap $ banger RD350 as you say just trying to cash in on the name . It may be a good bike but it will never be a RD . Its a bloody insult to the RD heritage .

They could make many people happy by re-producing LC tanks, pistons and many other no longer available parts for the air and liquid cooled 2t bikes.

If the picture above is the bike there possibly going to build then it doesn't look a lot different to a xj6 .

Would buy two, one to ride and one for spares. Where did that pic come from? Is it pic shop voo.doo. Its bloody good, looks long if they are standard cigars. Nice job. And if its a hybrid some one has built, again nice job.
