yes lose them.. possibly save one or 2 of them as a seal for the washing machine like clear plastic covered hole 'mod' in the clutch case.

Thoughts are divided on this my friend, some say they are there for a reason and all 7 should be used as I have done to mine, others say junk 5 off them as they stop you getting Neutral. I have this problem. Guy I know ditched 5 of them cos he couldn't get neutral with 7 of them when he tried it he had no issues he could get neutral with no bother. I too will be whipping out 5 of them shortly. Yamaha ditched this idea after one year apparently.

That's interesting! I had a problem getting neutral on my N2 before a full rebuild. Couldn't find anthing wrong internally (nd was able to slected netural fine with my finger tips with the clutch out and engine in half on the bench - still easy to get nethral now it's back together, although I think I only had the issue when the bike was hot (only ridden once before pulling it apart) Bike still going back together so I guess I'll see. I have rebuilt it with the o-rings as I had never heard of this.
Which years have the o-rings? My bike is an '86 and I presume the clutch had the rings orignially.

Does the same apply to a 250lc ? as I can't get neutral on mine and I have the rings fitted. I've replaced everything else with gen yamaha parts apart from clutch plates but still can't sort it. When I got the bike it only had to ring on the first two plates.
