hi all. newbie as just returned to lc's after 15yrs of regretting selling my last one. basically acceleration on bike ive just bought doesnt feel as I remember it being which at first I put down to being over nostalgic. but bike is fine up to 90 if a little sluggish from what I remember. struggles to hit 100mph. I remember previous bikes seeing 120-125 on clocks as friends who still own lc's say theres do. bike is f2 with standard exhausts. Any ideas people? bike doesnt rattle or rumble. doesnt smoke either. im wondering what are standard carb setting preferences. oh and powervalves work after 7000rpm and "set" when ignition switched on. thanks in advance. mucky al.

Hi and welcome. F2's can be a bit funny, they make peak power at 8500. You say the pv's work but worth checking they are set correctly and both are operating as the link between tends to wear the ends of the valves so the rh one does not work.
The ignition advance is reduced from 8500 on hence it not revving higher, some seem worse than others.
Best start with a check on the plug colour and a compression test as that will drastically affect the performance. Also worth de coking the exhausts or a set of aftermarket pipes will do it good.

Had problems with acceleration/top end on my f2 with power jet carbs on it. Tossed around with carbs trying to rejett/clean etc ended up tossing the power jet carbs and fitting 31k carbs . Sounds better and pulls better.
After talking to others it seems a down fall of the f2 is the power jet carbs.

Yeah I have a F2 with a 31k engine and carbs. Pulls hard to about 160 Kph definately, does about 190 easy with panniers etc. Doesn't pull past 9000 RPM which is good for reliability I spose.

How much heavier are you, 15 years on?
Still got the fairing on? Makes a big difference to top speed.

Instead of different carbs - block up the powerjet pipes and fit 31k jetting - simples
