Using KR1S carbs on my RD350LC Using the RDLC handlebar switch assembly and throttle tube and an RDLC (Yambits) throttle cable. I have KR1S carb tops with the elbows from Elsie carbs so they suit the throttle cable but there is a major floor !! Even with the adjustments both ends wound right in there is still not enough slack to allow the slide to go all the way down the carb when the throttle is closed. I have tried putting the original carb tops back on and using the two cables from the KR1S throttle cable on the Elsie cable assembly and although better is still not right. Do I heve to get two special bowden cables made for the Elsie assembly ??

Yambits throttle cable is your problem. You need a genuine Yamaha cable Yes I know they are expensive but are worth every penny

Yes bin the yambits cable. Even if you get it to fit you will soon find other problems.
Even with a genuine Lc2 cable on mine I had to grind down the adjuster nuts to allow a little more play.

You need to thread the elbows down to the point that they start to bend, you also need to file the carb top plates flat, so remove the the "top hat" part that the elbow slots into, see the 2 photo's below BEFORE AFTER HTH

I also cut the lc adjusters off and used the ones I got with the allens elbows no cutting of carb tops required

The 2 mods I did - threading the elbow and filing the carb tops means that you can swap the standard carbs and the PWK's back over without having to muck about and it costs nothing todo, since I am a tight Yorkshireman, that appeals to me !!, also the when I spoke to Allen's those carb adjusters weren't exactly cheap ! HTH

Thanks guys. Getting f#cked off with binning Yambits stuff atm !! Brought a gasket set and ended up cutting new ones myself as they were wrong Brought a Throttle tube that was smegged inside and spent 20 mins filing the inside of it and smoothing it so it worked All rubber seals and pipes go rock hard after a few months and are rubbish And to cap it when I sent them an email I got a snotty one back saying that I was making it all up. A hand up and down a p#nis comes to mind.

I found that OEM LC cables worked fine, albeit I had to shorten them a wee bit at the carb ends. Also found (despite having the Tube elbows on hand) that the cables made for a less friction 'arc' into the PWKS when fitted directly into the carbs. NO tube bits fitted, Or desired, on mine.

So how did you tie the cable to the carb top as there is then no treaded fixing ?

Better be worth it at the end. I was told 31k's make a big diferance on a 4LO and they sure do as it makes it impossible to have both no switchover flatspot at midrange and good top range. Put the 4LO carbs back on and they set up easy as anything !! Maybe my RG250 flat slides would have been a better option than the KR1S carbs!! Compared to the response of the slides on the original carbs the KR1S slides are very sluggish!! Sometimes I doubt the reasoning on changing stuff as my tweeked 4LO runs off the rev counter in every gear and I can stay glued to the back of plastic rockets up to a ton already !! Most probably as pointless as a motorised exhaust valve as flat out is flat out and slow is slow. Who has a two stroke to ride it mid range !!! If you do buy yourself a 125 four stroke !!LOL
