Hyup,
I'm a newbie to the forum, hello..
Any help out there please!!!
I am trying to fit a new set of caliper boot seals to LC2 ypvs front brakecalipers (http://yambits.co.uk/rd350-ypvs-lc2-brake-caliper-pin-boot-kit-p-5819.html?osCsid=vdm0sgcv5kdgqc1cdfael43ae4)
The bigger of the two seals is a doddle but the smaller one is a right effort. .
Are there any hints and tips to get the seal to go into the groove, it looks to big to fit and after repeated efforts still will not seat properly, I'm using red brake grease and washing up liquid. .
It looks like the rubber shoulder needs thinning a bit?
Cheers, Ed.

Hi welcome! did you clean the grooves out in the caliper itself where the seals actually sit in?, it important to do this as a gummy crud builds up and wont allow the seals to seat correct else! I use a straightened out split pin and carefully scrape out the grooves-just be careful not to scatchor score the caliper though.
cheers colin

Try sticking them in the freezer in the fast freeze compartment for a couple of hours - worked when I renewed my caliper piston seals.

My advice, is don't buy from Yambits. Iffy quality on many items & crap customer service.

I had to cut mine to get them to fit properly, got to where you are now, and then got the scalpel out, think I thinned some off the bottom as it fits the caliper. Got mine from Norbo so didn't expect any problems TBH. try the above methods first though, but nothing worked for me!!

It may well be that the seal that you have is the wrong size and won't fit, I've come across so many different sizes over the years and most are too big.

All the caliper pin boots come from the same place and NLA from yam unfortuanetley its just a problem that people have with them. most people trim them down a little . but id clean the grooves out first I fited a set just 1 time and they fitted fine but I had to clean out the caliper groove a lot.

Cheers, I'd already cleaned the grooves but will give them another go, the wall thickness of the rubber is 3.5mm but the groove looks to be quite a bit less, 3.2?
Thanks for the info, now I know it's a common problem I'm less bothered about getting the scalpel out!

Hyup all,
I have been in contact with Yambits and they got hold of some OEM boot seals and compared them with the aftermarket ones, upshot of the situation is they sent me a free pair of OEM yamaha boot seals.
They fitted 1st time no problem, I've still got the part numbers if anyone needs them.
Can't fault the customer service, situation resolved within a week.
Cheers, Ed.

You will also need a 4x8-25917-00 x 1 as there are two slider pins per calliper which are different sizes.
