+ 1 they are as rare as rocking horse poo. I was in the same boat having recently picked up an LC. Torch revealed a rusted tank on the inside. I was lucky in that the PO advised it had been pressure tested, yeah right. I filled her half with fuel and let it sit over night, sure enough several wet spots or weep holes. Luckily I hadn't invested hundreds of dollars and many hours on a spray job only to find this out later. ( past experience) it can be devastating to spend time money and effort on a paint job that develops weep bubbles a few weeks later. I would test it to see if it had no holes, if it doesn't your on a winner. If it does have holes, you may be able to get them repaired at a reputable radiator repairers. There are paint products that are designed for lining /paining the inside of the tank, but IMO get the hole repaired with either a tinning process, or a braising process that involves heat and metal. Then line it with a paint process, (be careful there is great debate on paint liners and product types. I have lined two tanks in the last three years, This last one I used KBS Gold Standard Tank Sealer. I didn't want to seal it , but alas I also didn't want the above to happen. Only time will tell how well the product stands up. The hardest and most crucial part in the lining process I have found, is making sure the tank, and in-particular the seam lines on the inside are dry. I spent hours on the tank with the wifes hair dryer and a torch. Glad I did, as sitting the tank in-front of the fire overnight and inspecting it with a torch was just not enough to dry it out. At anyrate i'm getting off track, even if you buy a brand new tank from magic-land, someone will be interested in your current tank, they are realy that hard to get. So it's worth a bit of work.

Hi, Go to Advice and Help section Search for, Leaky Tank Gremilns- up date November 2012 and read through. I managed to seal the tank with plummers lead weld and a mini blow tourch. You must use the old style lead not the new stuff. Sorry I am an idiot and I don't know how to link you direct.

heres the link,i have used the soldiering method and it did work for me.the tank i did has been sold now and was showing a small bubble but was above where i'd done,i did'nt treat it with a rust eater inside the tank so this might help aswell.it lasted 18 months and was only ment to be a patch up job anyway so you need to get it right if your having new paintwork. rdlccrazy.proboards.com/thread/18235/leaky-tank-gremlins-date

Woops! My old tank rotted from the inside. Loads of holes on the petc**k side as thats where water would sit under the fuel ( different relative gravity ) so once i sourced a good second hand off ebay i threw my old one in the metal recycling bin down the tip !!!!!!!!!!
