been taking lc in to work this week, wed morning, got 2 or 3 miles down the road, and motor dropped onto 1 cyl,as if running out of fuel.i knew it was getting low but didnt think it was that low, anyways popped it on reserve, but it just ran on 1 cyl.couldnt b arsed to turn back,so carried on,keeping the revs up to keep her running.it wasnt easy as the roads are all narrow back lanes, anyways, got about a mile away from work, doing about 70/75,and a bloody great hare comes charging out of the hedge straight into the side of me bike, breaking my l/h/s footrest off!!! foot hurt for a while too,but not as much as my footrest coming off.got to work and had a quick look at her to see if perhaps the fuel tap had blocked or something, but no.the drain screw from the left carb had fallen out, draing petrol all over my exhaust.i spose i was a little lucky it didnt go up in smoke with my reputation.anyways to say i was pee'd off would be an understatement.went out and did my 1st load...(im a lorry driver),and when i returned to the mill,i thought 'i wander if my drain screw is still on the engine cases',some hope i thought, went out to her,and there it sat on the cases.i was well chuffed.wasnt going to risk riding her home as i wasnt sure if i had enuff fuel left, but decided to chance it.got 50 yards from home before she splutterd, hung off the bike to lean it over a little and managed to get to my door without pushing. so after 2 bits of bad luck, she still got me home safe and sound.and now i have more reasons to tinker.i love my elsie, and thats why she is still in my posession after 22 yrs.
