Hi, does anyone know whats the average amount of material on a ypvs flywheel that generally gets machined off the flywheel to lighten it for road use.

no more than 6mm, I generally stay conservative and just take 3mm to 4mm off, that way the flywheel doesn't/hasn't to date anyway, produced any cracks etc

Happer . what muts is talking about is over all depth not normal depth . your not looking at the depth of material taken of 1 side as you may measure but the rad depth

6mm less than what you started with assuming its standard.

Just dont miss a gear with a lightened flywheel as the engine revs off the tacho !! Another issue is that you are robbing the engine of momentum with a lightened flywheel. And before there are any replies that is true as I have had lightened flywheels on tuned cars and tuned motorbikes. Good for quick acceleration and blipping at lights but no good for trying to slog up a hill or slog up to a high top speed !! :-).
