Not sure if many have followed my thread on the rebuilds and hybrids section But here is my colour scheme .pretty close to planned. Comments welcomed good bad or in different. I need to do the tank yet. And whack some lacquer over the decals of this lot. But im happy with the results. I did it myself at a cost of around £100 for paint. Please feel free to check out the rest of my build...

Thats look ##### good mate, just done a bit myself, and can't say it looks as good as yours, how did you manage to get all the perfectly crisp lines?? (especially the belly pan logo)
I got a bit of 'paint bleed' around a few, especially at the edges of the tank, used the proper fine line tape too, any secrets or help? what lacquer are you going to use for the tank.
I'm at exactly the same stage, and getting paranoid the paints all going to lift when I start to laquer it.

to stop the paint bleeding under edge tape apply mist coats rather than heavy ones and build up the colour that way

I'm at exactly the same stage, and getting paranoid the paints all going to lift when I start to laquer it. I apply multi substrate primer. White basecoat Pearl white coat Lacquer The yellow bits that were masked are yellow basecoat Then lacquer Then apply plack vinyl graphics , all the black bits are vinyl. Some bought. Some hand cut from a sheet. Some pinstripe tape etc Its important to have a bit of lacquer between the paint and the decals Then a mist of lacquer over all. Patience is key. Leave it for a day I then misted over once in morn and once at night for a couple of days till a heavy coating. Otherwise the solvents will crinkle the vinyl..I have tested with paint instead but it has to dry fully otherwise the lacquer solvents make the paint bleed. Abd I always seemed to get a bit of bleeding under whatever tapes I used to mask... Key word is patience!!!!!

After lacquer hardens. Leave about a week at least.....wet sand with 1500 grade to remove "orange peel" effect and then polish with G3 farecla polish. Then to G10 .and a buff.

But its a base yellow that I bought that needs a gloss lacquer.

Another question, if you're using 2 pack lacquer, doesn't it go hard in the can after a few hours, (and need air fed breathing equipment) have also read it takes longer to dry as well, was going to use this myself, from my local paint suppliers too.

Its a single pack in a can. I know the stuff you mention. And it can be activated before use and lasts a few hours.. I was considering this but taking the advice .I liked the look of the stuff I used. Ot comes put very well I dont know why it says 2k on the can but its definately a one part....ill sort a pic out when I get home.
