Out on a run around 100 miles tonight and the cap blew off the expansion bottle a couple of times.
I also noticed the coolant level is now higher.
Question is: is that more than likely a head gasket failure?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it to me ,something's pressurising the water system,,,maybe check the water pump impeller and thermostat is ok before removing the head, also check the hoses to and from the the expansion tank, maybe a blockage or kink??

Had the same on mine in its maiden voyage. I hadn't touched the engine but had done lots of other stuff. Mine was overheating and spitting coolant out of the pressure cap on the rad and the expansion tank cap was blown-off. It was the head gasket, of rather the heat gasket not sealing because some previous owner had snapped of a head stud and stuck the barrel-nut in with silicon.....
How I laughed!

Deffo head gasket. You may get away with retweaking the head nuts or failing that, whip the head off and smear silicone on the old gasket and reuse it. It has worked for me. Actually yu're committed to taking off the head, now is an excelletn time to measure the squish (assuming you haven't already done this....), then you can split the headgasket to get a better squish value.
