The fork caps on my elsie are different to anything I'm familiar with. The air stem is apparent but, how do I take the caps off to change oil, springs or seals etc? HELP!

if its a 4lo it looks like some one has fitted a valve in the std fork cap.try pushing down on the cap to expose the wire clip holding the cap in place.

yep, proddy racers mod that, good ole classic 80's mod, stick a few psi of air in to stiffen the front end. They look like standard LC caps that have bene drilled out to take the tubeless valve. Just get a socket to go over the top of the valve and press the caps down and remove the spring retaining clip as normal for LC forks

Thanks blokes. I didn't get that from reading my manual and I've only ever seen threaded caps before. Standard LC eh? And it has been set up for racing by the previous owner. I'll get the wd on to them this morning. And re-read the manual. Maybe fully this time, or at least more carefully (yeah, yeah, read that..know that...know that...seen that...)
Drop any air, extend the fork as far as possible and try and see a retaining clip.
