In the process of this now, gone for polishing. Have ground off the casting marks on the hangers and sat out with my missus on our bench with a glass of wine after tea, rubbing down with wet'n'dry but got told off for making the bench rock and squeek while I was doing it.

I have used Scotchbrite fine pads to finish off, rubbing down the fork legs widthways. Degrease with cellulose thinners, then finish off with clearcoat. Looks pretty good on both RD's and DT's

Really useful stuff, I have been trying abrasive pads by hand and not getting a decent finish. Just ordered some scotchbrite pads for the drill so hopefully will do the job.

What type of clear coats are people using? I assumed ally would need a special type.
